Workin' for the Weekend

Everybody's working for the weekend... But that doesn't mean you can't do it in style.

If you're like me, comfort reigns supreme. And comfort doesn't have to be a four letter word when it comes to fashion.

For example, I am loving these Alice + Olivia pleated, menswear style trousers. The wide leg is ideal for comfort, but manages to be universally flattering. Throw on this comfy, cashmere sweater by Velvet, add a belt to cinch your waist, toss in some chunky bangles (tortoiseshell, anyone?) and voila - instant style to get you through til Friday.

Current Obsession...Vintage on eBay

With the economy going south, now's the time to start thinking frugally. Unfortunately, I just don't have the patience nor time to traipse around town scouring sale racks.

Fortunately, for those of you like me, there is a practical solution. Enter, eBay - a massive, online sale rack, with limitless goodies and treasures... though somewhat daunting if you don't know where to look.

My go-tos are a couple of typically well-stocked and mostly outrageous vintage stores - try Thriftwares, meat-market or Lullie Vintage Clothing. Even if their stuff isn't to your liking...these stores are great for inspiration on ways to get use out the the older, forgotten pieces in your closet.

Check out this slick leather bomber - the color is rich and the fit is unique - guaranteed to be coveted by your roommates. Just remember to lock the closet door before hitting the road.

Baby, It's Cold Outside...

And sometimes, well, baby, it's cold inside...

Getting ready in the mornings will be a whole lot toastier in these wool ballet slippers from J. Crew. Easy to slip on, and just the right mix of feminine and flirty. Now if only I can keep them away from the puppy...

On Trend...

One brand that consistently delivers is Tibi - led by designer and founder Amy Smilovic. Her lines get better every year, and I am impressed by her ability to design a range of clothes that are just so utterly wearable.

A standout from the Fall 2008 collection is a stunning plaid coat - on trend, but still very classic and versatile. Wear it around town over a cozy sweater dress and boots or over an LBD for a night on the town...

And don't you just love how the model's bright red dress peeks out from underneath?

Shoe du Jour

The cold weather has finally arrived...but I'm not quite ready for full-fledge winter boot wearing just yet. My solution? These awesome new platform kicks from Steve Madden (on trend and affordable). Pair with tights (white cable knit, anyone?) or skinny jeans and you can keep your feet cozy and stylish - for work and for play.
